Sustainable Interiors

When we founded the Magical Mushroom Company, we started by asking ourselves “What if you could produce packaging that doesn’t cost the earth?” So we partnered with Ecovative Design to bring their mycelium technology to the UK and Europe.

Since then Ecovative and The Magical Mushroom Company has asked further questions. What if you could grow other products? What if you could grow furniture, lampshades and even a whole home? What if we could all live in harmony with nature, producing nothing that isn’t part of the natural lifecycle of the planet? What if we could live our lives without compromising the lives of future generations or the integrity of the ecosystems we all rely on?

With this in mind, we are now on the journey to fully sustainable living with our new interiors offering. Today you can buy wall tiles and light pendants but there’s much more to come. We aim to inspire a new generation of eco-friendly designers.

Acoustic tiles

The new wall tiles are great for your interior and for other applications. They are decorative, insulating, fire resistant and highly acoustic! As with all our mycelium products, the tiles are fully home compostable – break them up in your garden or compost and they will add nutrition back to the soil.

Light pendants

Mycelium binds together with sustainably sourced agricultural by-products, resulting in eco-friendly pendants that are soft to the touch. This small mycelium lamp is perfect for reading in your coffee corner. Or, combine multiple lamps if you want to light a larger space.

Tom Dixon strategic partnership

Tom Dixon is one of our favourite designers, so we are incredibly proud to have partnered with his company, to grow a chair which was exhibited at Mushrooms: The Art, Design, and Future of Fungi at Somerset House London in 2020.

Tom is a huge fan of our material and has briefed his company on the potential for a new era of sustainable living. As our partnership deepens there will be many planet-positive, home-compostable products to come.
